Information design

Ability to:

  • arrange information in a logical sequence, structure and appropriate hierarchy
  • choose and use appropriate media/channels/delivery mechanisms
  • follow a design brief relating to layout and presentation
  • ensure information is accessible for people with a disability
  • develop navigational features (headings, table of contents, index, search, links)
  • identify items to be highlighted such as notes, tips and warnings
  • design for effective delivery on a range of output media
  • design presentation aspects such as selecting suitable typography, use of whitespace, use of tables and images
  • design for online delivery, including maximising possibilities with topic-based authoring, single-sourcing, cross-referencing, links, and logical structures
  • review collected information and identify anything that is not appropriate to include.
